Sited on a 17-acre farm this classic Chester County red bank barn was built for children with disabilities to interact and care for animals on the farm. The new barn is based on old photos of the original bank barn lost to fire in the 1950’s. Animals are housed in the lower level of the barn with wide stalls to allow wheelchairs to enter and an indoor ramp gives access to the loft. Latches are low for children to reach, halters and feed buckets are color-coordinated so even the youngest child can feed the animals. The owner provided a caring environment for the children to succeed and have fun with the animals while gaining knowledge, confidence, and self-esteem.
