BUILT WITHIN THE CONFINES of a demolished 19th c. country house with magnificent views overlooking acres of undisturbed meadow and backed by dense woods, this new Arts & Crafts-inspired residence is designed to minimize site disturbance and cultivate a sense of timelessness within the landscape. The program called for a home that would embody care and craft at every level for a family of six, with additional cottage accommodations suitable for grandparents. The materials selected are natural and detailed with the goal that they weather gracefully in the tradition of great country houses. Drawing upon inspiration from its Arts & Crafts predecessors, this epic house is the work of the region’s most talented artisans and craftsmen, whose contributions range from the millwork and art glass to the plaster, masonry and ironwork.
