Archer & Buchanan Receives Trumbauer Award

Archer & Buchanan Architecture is proud to announce that one of our projects was honored in the Third Biennial Trumbauer Awards, recognizing excellence in contemporary classicism by the Philadelphia Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. The project, St. Patrick’s Church Interior Renovation, received the award in the category of Interior Design–Non-Residential.

St. Patrick’s is a modest stone Roman Catholic church built in 1910 and located within the urban fabric of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. Within the parish, it was recognized that previously-completed renovations had not aged well, and the historic character of the church’s interior had been badly compromised. Archer & Buchanan approached the renovation with the main goals being to beautify the interior through a design that is true to the original Gothic details of the building and to enhance the space through new materials and finishes.

“This project is example of what A&B tries to achieve in all of our ecclesiastical work,” notes firm partner Peter Archer. “We have built upon and added significantly to the beauty initially created at St. Patrick’s Church by the original architects.”
