The Sagamore Resort Master Plan

Lake George, Bolton Landing, NY

Since its opening on July 1, 1930, the Sagamore Resort has been recognized as a premier Adirondack resort destination.  Its dramatic siting on the southern tip of Green Island and its distinctive “X”-shaped plan, designed by architect Harold Field Kellogg, give the resort a presence, scale and character that make it unique among America’s painted clapboard resorts.  Over the years, the property has grown and other structures have been built on the island.

Archer & Buchanan has developed a master plan that identifies opportunities for improved operation and development.  The plan includes the design of a new 15,000 sf state-of-the-art spa within the existing hotel, a 5,000 sf ballroom addition, new outdoor roof terrace, and expansion of the conference facility.  The design is respectful of the original historically certified structure and sensitive to the ecology of the island, both of which are critical to the advancement of the plan.
