Archer & Buchanan provided pro bono design services when it was time to replace the hunt stables of “Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds” for the Cheshire Hunt Conservancy in Unionville, PA. With the redevelopment of the historic barn site to meet modern stable management needs, the CHC realized a 50% reduction in horse-care costs over the previous facility from the 1920’s, and simplified in every respect the management of the property.
Durable materials and thoughtful proportions create a peaceful 14-stall home for the Cheshire Hunt staff horses with two wash stalls, tack room, equipment bays and hay & straw storage above. The new barn links the adjacent Boarding House and Cheshire House to make a working courtyard.
