Long before meeting Archer & Buchanan, the owners of this house had a vision of creating a home with elements of the homes in which they had grown up. One was from ‘Canary Cottage’ in Ohio and the other from a classic R. Brognard Okie home. The inspiration of Okie permeates this new house, from wide-board details, salvaged cabinet doors, and beadboard walls to the inglenook that invites one to light a fire and curl up with a book. Inspired by then traditional Pennsylvania farmhouse on the outside, the inside is a series of special spaces for living, with comfort and gathering as the key elements. The open plan provides a visual connection from the den to the kitchen to the living room, and is articulated by the scale of spaces and the warmth of materials and furnishings. Located on a beautiful wooded site, the seasonal porch brings nature in to this alluring country retreat.
