The Lewisburg countryside possesses the lush rolling landscape of the south of England with its mix of hills and valleys, woods and meadows. The underlying impulse for this home grew from the owner’s experience of that iconic British landscape by studying the great country houses of Sir Edwin Lutyens. His work is known for the deft use of space to create dramatic experiences and to magnify the scale of the home for a feeling of grandeur. We were asked to create a modern family home with the vitality, formality and playfulness characteristic of Lutyens.
